Overview

Duties

Welding Operations:
  • Perform welding operations to join metal components, parts, or structures according to engineering drawings, blueprints, or specifications.
  • Ensure proper fit and alignment of metal parts before welding
Equipment Setup and Maintenance:
  • Set up welding equipment, including welding machines, gas cylinders, and protective gear, and ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Adjust welding parameters, such as voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed, for optimal weld quality.
Material Preparation:
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, cutting, grinding, or shaping as necessary to ensure proper fit and alignment.
  • Remove rust, scale, or other contaminants from metal surfaces to facilitate proper weld penetration.
Quality Control:
  • Inspect welds for defects, such as cracks, porosity, or incomplete fusion, and make necessary adjustments to achieve desired weld quality and integrity.
  • Document inspection results and maintain records of welding activities and quality control measures.
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques and processes, including arc welding, gas welding, and TIG welding. Ability to operate welding equipment safely and effectively.
  • Possession of relevant welding certifications, such as Certified Welder (CW) or Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), may be required depending on industry standards and employer requirements.
  • Previous experience as a welder or in a related field is often preferred
