Overview

Duties

Receiving and Unloading:

  • Warehouse workers receive incoming shipments of goods, materials, and supplies from suppliers, carriers, or production facilities.
  • They unload delivery trucks, containers, or pallets using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.

Inventory Management:

  • Warehouse workers organize and store received items in designated locations within the warehouse using appropriate storage methods and equipment.
  • They conduct regular cycle counts and inventory checks to maintain accurate inventory records and identify discrepancies or shortages.

Order Picking and Packing:

  • Warehouse workers retrieve items from storage locations based on pick lists, work orders, or customer orders using handheld scanners or picking equipment.
  • They pack items securely and accurately according to customer specifications, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.

Shipping and Loading:

  • Warehouse workers prepare shipping documents, such as bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels, to accompany outgoing shipments.
  • They load outgoing shipments onto delivery trucks or transport vehicles, ensuring proper stacking, weight distribution, and securing of goods.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and operating material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail to accurately check inventory, verify shipments, and maintain organized storage areas.
  • Basic communication skills to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and occasionally vendors or delivery drivers.
