Overview
A Waiter is responsible for providing attentive and courteous service to restaurant patrons, ensuring an enjoyable dining experience. They play a key role in taking orders, serving food and beverages, and attending to the needs of guests in a timely and professional manner.
Duties
Customer Service:
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the restaurant, escort them to their tables, and present menus.
- Provide recommendations and descriptions of menu items, answer questions, and assist customers in making dining selections.
Order Taking and Processing:
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, noting any special requests, dietary restrictions, or modifications.
- Input orders into the restaurant's POS system and relay them to the kitchen staff promptly.
Food and Beverage Service:
- Serve food and beverages to customers according to established service standards and presentation guidelines.
- Monitor tables and anticipate guests' needs, refilling drinks, clearing plates, and offering additional items as requested.
Table Maintenance:
- Ensure that tables are properly set with clean linens, utensils, and condiments before seating guests.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of dining areas, including clearing and resetting tables between customers.
Payment Handling:
- Present bills to customers, process payments accurately, and return change or receipts promptly.
- Thank customers for their patronage, invite them to return, and assist with any additional requests or inquiries.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a waiter or server in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service techniques, menu items, and wine pairing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively during busy periods.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in order taking, payment processing, and customer service.
- Physical stamina and endurance to stand for long periods and carry trays or dishes.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant's schedule.
