Overview
A Tire Installer is responsible for the mounting, balancing, and installation of tires on vehicles. This role involves ensuring that tires are properly fitted and aligned to enhance vehicle performance and safety. Tire Installers also provide customer service and maintenance support as needed.
Duties
Tire Installation
- Remove old tires and install new tires on various types of vehicles, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
Balancing and Rotation
- Balance tires using specialized equipment and rotate tires according to manufacturer specifications.
Safety Checks
- Inspect tires for tear and damage, advising customers on necessary repairs or replacements.
Equipment Operation
- Operate tire-changing and balancing machinery safely and efficiently.
Customer Service
- Provide excellent service by answering customer questions, explaining tire options, and recommending products.
Maintenance and Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are in good working condition.
Documentation
- Record tire installations, rotations, and other services performed for inventory and customer records.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is typically required; vocational training in automotive service is a plus.
- Previous experience in tire installation or automotive service.
- Knowledge of tire types, brands, and installation techniques.
- Strong focus on accuracy and safety in all tasks.
- Ability to lift heavy tires and work on feet for extended periods.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues with tire installation and vehicle performance.
- Good verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
