Overview
The Steel Fixer is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) in concrete structures, such as buildings, bridges, and roads. They play a critical role in the construction industry, ensuring the structural integrity, stability, and durability of concrete elements by reinforcing them with steel.
Duties
# Reading and Interpreting Plans:
- Study and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Identify materials needed and determine the best approach for fabrication and installation.
# Fabrication and Assembly:
- Measure, cut, and shape steel components as required.
- Weld or bolt steel parts together to create structures or components.
# Installation and Fixing:
- Install steel structures, beams, columns, and other components according to specifications.
- Secure steel elements in place using appropriate fasteners and techniques.
# Quality Control and Inspection:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure that steel components meet quality standards.
- Identify and address any defects or issues with fabrication or installation.
# Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or similar role in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and installation techniques.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
- Welding certification is a plus.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
