Overview

The Site Cleaner is a crucial role within the construction industry, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment on construction sites. This position involves performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting the overall efficiency of the construction project. The Site Cleaner will work closely with construction workers, supervisors, and other staff to uphold site cleanliness standards and contribute to a positive working atmosphere.


Duties

Site Maintenance:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing work areas to eliminate debris, dirt, and hazardous materials.
  • Collect, sort, and dispose of waste materials, including construction debris, packaging, and general trash, following local waste disposal regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize portable restrooms and other sanitation facilities, ensuring they are well-stocked with supplies (e.g., toilet paper, soap). Organize tools, materials, and equipment to promote a safe and efficient work environment, reducing trip hazards and ensuring easy access for workers.

Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols set by the construction company and regulatory bodies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Actively monitor the site for potential safety hazards, reporting any concerns to the Site Supervisor or Safety Officer.
  • Familiarize oneself with emergency procedures and ensure that emergency exits are clear and accessible at all times.

Support to Construction Team:

  • Provide assistance to construction workers by clearing areas for work, relocating materials, or helping with minor tasks as needed.
  • Maintain open communication with the Site Supervisor and other team members regarding site conditions, cleanliness issues, and any additional support required.
  • Work alongside various teams, including subcontractors and suppliers, to ensure a cooperative approach to site maintenance.

Equipment and Materials Management:

  • Operate cleaning equipment and tools, such as pressure washers, floor scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners, ensuring they are used safely and maintained properly.
  • Monitor and manage cleaning supplies and equipment inventory, notifying the Site Supervisor when restocking is necessary.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Complete daily logs detailing cleaning activities, issues encountered, and materials disposed of, providing this information to the Site Supervisor for review. Document any accidents or incidents occurring on-site, ensuring proper reporting procedures are followed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in construction cleaning, janitorial services, or facility maintenance is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Ability to notice cleanliness issues and address them promptly and efficiently.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and report issues to supervisors.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to complete cleaning duties within the required timeframe.
