Overview
The Security Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding the premises, assets, and individuals within a designated area or facility. They are responsible for maintaining a secure environment by monitoring surveillance equipment, patrolling the premises, and responding to security incidents to ensure the safety and security of personnel and property.
Duties
Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems to detect and prevent unauthorized entry or suspicious activities.
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises to visually inspect for any security breaches or safety hazards.
Access Control:
- Control and monitor access to the premises, verifying credentials and authorizing entry for authorized personnel, visitors, or vehicles.
- Enforce security protocols and procedures to maintain the integrity of restricted areas and ensure compliance with security policies.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and maintain order.
- Coordinate with emergency services and law enforcement agencies as needed to address security threats or incidents.
Report Writing and Documentation:
- Prepare detailed incident reports documenting security breaches, disturbances, or unusual activities observed during patrols or surveillance.
- Maintain accurate records of security-related activities, including shift logs, incident reports, and access control logs.
Customer Service and Assistance:
- Provide assistance and support to employees, visitors, and clients by addressing inquiries, providing directions, and offering assistance as needed.
- Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor while representing the security team and promoting a positive and secure environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in security or law enforcement preferred.
- Proven experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field, with knowledge of security procedures and practices.
- Strong observation and surveillance skills, with the ability to remain vigilant and alert during patrols and monitoring activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods, as well as the capability to respond quickly to emergencies or security threats.
