Overview
A Sandblaster-Washer-Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying coatings to various materials, equipment, or structures. They play a crucial role in surface preparation, cleaning, and painting processes to protect and enhance the appearance and durability of surfaces.
Duties
Surface Preparation:
- Use sandblasting equipment to remove rust, scale, corrosion, and old paint from metal surfaces.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by masking off areas, filling cracks or defects, and applying primers or sealants as needed.
Cleaning and Washing:
- Clean surfaces using pressure washers, detergents, and solvents to remove dirt, grease, and contaminants.
- Rinse and dry surfaces thoroughly to ensure cleanliness and proper adhesion of paint coatings.
Paint Application:
- Apply paint coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray guns to achieve desired coverage, texture, and finish.
- Follow paint manufacturer's instructions and specifications for mixing, thinning, and application of paints and coatings.
Quality Control:
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects, runs, or inconsistencies and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
- Ensure proper adhesion, coverage, and appearance of paint coatings to meet quality standards and specifications.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazardous exposures during sandblasting, washing, and painting activities.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and safety goggles to minimize exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a sandblaster, washer, painter, or in a similar role.
