Overview
A Room Attendant, also known as a housekeeper or maid, is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in guest rooms, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic environment for hotel guests. Duties
Room Cleaning and Preparation:
- Clean and sanitize guest rooms according to established standards and procedures, including making beds, vacuuming carpets, dusting furniture, and wiping surfaces.
- Replenish guest amenities, toiletries, towels, and linens as needed, ensuring sufficient supplies for the duration of the guest's stay.
Bathroom Sanitation:
- Clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures, including toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs, removing soap scum, stains, and mineral deposits.
- Replace used towels, bath mats, and toiletries, ensuring a fresh and hygienic environment for guests.
Room Inspection:
- Conduct thorough inspections of guest rooms to identify maintenance issues, damage, or cleanliness concerns, reporting any discrepancies to the housekeeping supervisor or maintenance team.
- Ensure all amenities, electronics, and appliances in the room are in working order and properly configured for guest use.
Lost and Found:
- Collect and inventory any lost or misplaced items found in guest rooms, storing them securely and following hotel procedures for guest retrieval or disposal.
- Report any valuable or sensitive items found in guest rooms to the housekeeping supervisor or front desk staff for appropriate handling.
Guest Interaction and Service:
- Provide friendly and courteous service to guests, responding promptly to requests for additional amenities, housekeeping services, or special accommodations.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect guests' privacy, refraining from entering occupied rooms unless requested or authorized by hotel management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a room attendant, housekeeper, or in a similar role within the hospitality industry is preferred but not always required.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and products used in hotel housekeeping operations, including vacuum cleaners, cleaning agents, and laundry procedures.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning and inspecting guest rooms to meet established cleanliness standards and guest satisfaction metrics.
- Physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and work on feet for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
