Overview
A Restaurant Server, also known as a waiter or waitress, is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and serving food and beverages to patrons in a restaurant setting. Duties
Guest Interaction:
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival, escort them to their tables, and provide menus, utensils, and napkins.
- Interact with customers in a friendly and attentive manner, answering questions about menu items, making recommendations, and accommodating special requests.
Order Taking and Delivery:
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring accuracy in recording guest preferences, dietary restrictions, and modifications.
- Relay orders to the kitchen or bar promptly, communicating any special requests or instructions to the culinary or beverage team.
Food and Beverage Service:
- Serve food and drinks to guests promptly and courteously, using proper serving techniques and presentation standards.
- Monitor tables and anticipate guests' needs, refilling beverages, clearing plates, and providing additional condiments or utensils as required.
Upselling and Promotion:
- Suggest appetizers, desserts, or specialty drinks to enhance the dining experience and increase sales revenue.
- Promote daily specials, seasonal menu items, or promotional offers to guests, encouraging additional purchases.
Billing and Payment Processing:
- Present bills to guests, itemizing charges and applying discounts or coupons as applicable.
- Process payments accurately, including cash, credit card transactions, or electronic payments, and provide change or receipts as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a restaurant server or in customer service roles is preferred but not always required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of guests.
- Knowledge of restaurant procedures, menu items, and service standards to provide accurate information and recommendations to patrons.

- Physical stamina and endurance to stand for long periods, carry trays, and navigate crowded dining areas.
