Overview

A Repair Manager oversees and coordinates repair activities within an organization or facility, ensuring the timely and efficient resolution of maintenance issues. Duties

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead repair teams, including technicians, mechanics, and maintenance staff, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Delegate tasks, assign work orders, and prioritize repair projects based on urgency, resources, and operational needs.

Repair Coordination:

  • Receive and review repair requests, work orders, and maintenance tickets from various departments or clients, assessing the scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate repair activities, scheduling technicians, allocating resources, and ensuring timely completion of repairs to minimize downtime and disruptions.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to repair teams, assisting with troubleshooting, diagnosing complex issues, and recommending solutions or repair methods.
  • Conduct inspections, evaluations, and assessments of equipment, facilities, or systems to identify repair needs and maintenance requirements.

Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to obtain quotes, negotiate contracts, and coordinate outsourced repair services as needed.
  • Monitor vendor performance, quality of work, and adherence to service agreements, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of repair activities, work orders, equipment maintenance history, and inventory levels using maintenance management software or databases.
  • Generate reports, metrics, and performance indicators to track repair costs, productivity, downtime, and compliance with repair schedules and service level agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is preferred, although relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proven experience in repair management, facilities maintenance, or a similar role, with demonstrated leadership skills and technical expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of repair techniques, equipment operation, and maintenance procedures for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or structural systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with repair teams, clients, vendors, and stakeholders professionally and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), software applications, and digital tools for scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities to diagnose issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies for optimizing repair operations.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards, codes, and best practices in repair and maintenance management.

The Repair Manager position requires a proactive and resourceful individual who can oversee repair activities, coordinate repair teams, and ensure the efficient operation of maintenance operations.
