Overview
A Pool Guard, also known as a lifeguard or pool attendant, is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of swimmers at pools, water parks, or aquatic facilities. They play a crucial role in preventing accidents, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies to maintain a safe aquatic environment.
Duties
# Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Conduct continuous surveillance of pool area to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
- Monitor swimmers and activities in and around the pool to identify potential risks or hazards.
- Remain vigilant at all times and respond promptly to any signs of distress or danger.
# Enforcement of Safety Rules:
- Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Communicate and enforce safety guidelines, such as no running or diving in designated areas.
- Educate patrons about water safety and proper pool behavior.
# Emergency Response:
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, such as drowning incidents or medical emergencies.
- Perform water rescues and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
- Coordinate with emergency services and other staff members to ensure a prompt and efficient response.
# Maintenance and Cleanliness:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of the pool area.
- Clean and sanitize pool decks, restrooms, and other facilities on a regular basis.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to management immediately.
# Patron Assistance and Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to patrons of all ages.
- Assist patrons with questions, concerns, or special needs as needed.

Qualifications:
- Valid lifeguard certification from a recognized training program.
- Strong swimming skills and proficiency in water rescue techniques.
- Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Prior experience as a lifeguard or in a related role preferred.
