Overview

Duties

Installation and Repair:

  • Installing, repairing, or replacing pipes, fittings, valves, faucets, and fixtures to ensure efficient water distribution and drainage.
  • Installing and repairing water heaters, boilers, pumps, and other plumbing appliances and equipment.

Pipefitting and Welding:

  • Cutting, bending, threading, and soldering pipes to fit specific dimensions and configurations.
  • Welding or brazing metal pipes and fittings as needed for specialized plumbing installations.

Drainage and Sewage Systems:

  • Clearing clogged drains, toilets, and sewer lines using plumbing snakes, augers, hydro-jetting equipment, or chemical cleaners.
  • Inspecting and repairing sewer lines, septic tanks, and drainage systems to prevent backups and leaks.

Water Supply Systems:

  • Installing and repairing water supply lines, including mains, service lines, and indoor plumbing fixtures such as sinks, showers, and toilets.
  • Testing water pressure, flow rates, and water quality to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Obtainment of a valid plumbing license or certification as required by local or state regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, building plans, and technical diagrams.
  • Practical experience working as a plumber's apprentice or journeyman plumber under the supervision of experienced professionals.
  • Proficiency in pipefitting techniques, including cutting, bending, threading, and soldering pipes to fit specific configurations.
