Overview
A Plant Operator is responsible for controlling, maintaining, and operating equipment and machinery in a plant, such as a manufacturing or production facility. They ensure efficient and safe operations, and may also perform maintenance and troubleshooting tasks. Education and training requirements can vary, but often include vocational or technical education, along with on-the-job training.
Duties
Safety and Control
- Inspect equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear, and make or recommend appropriate repairs.
Material and Equipment Handling
- Good working knowledge of process equipment including Inlet separators, dehydration system, cryogenic system and turbines.
- Able to do light maintenance work; change process filters, grease and oil equipment, replace fan belts, operate manual valves and general equipment up keep as needed.
Plant Scheduling
- Plant operator has to work with Word, Excel, Wonderware, and Email. Reviews and monitors prior shift, to check for accuracy, daily computer log and scan process board. Records gas volumes and process analyzer readings, and makes necessary changes.Gauges and records daily tank inventory.
Monitoring Plant Processes and Security
- Monitors and maintains process readings on daily log sheets (inside and outside readings of entire plant). Acknowledging, responding to, and initiate corrections/action to process alarms. Monitors and maintains all control loops in the plant.
- Monitors and maintains truck loading area. Drain or recover fluids from containments to prevent spills. Monitors and maintains security of plant entrances by checking the identification and recording names of visitors.
Maintain and log keeping of Plant
- Conducts and/or coordinates ongoing maintenance and general housekeeping of the plant. Procedures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily cleaning tasks.
- Reads log of automatic gauges, as specified intervals, to determine flow rate of gas from the plant. Monitors and maintains logs of meter readings, test results, and adjustments made.
Plant Management
- Adheres to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation. Supports company vision and mission.
- Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. Other duties as assigned by management
Qualification:
- Five (5) years minimum gas processing plant experience, or certified as a gas plant operator.
- Ability to accurately troubleshoot and solve problems. ensure establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with H2S gas treating
