Overview

Paver Workers are responsible for laying and finishing various types of paving materials, including asphalt, concrete, and brick, to construct or repair roads, driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces. They ensure that surfaces are smooth, durable, and meet quality standards.


Duties

Surface Preparation

  • Prepare the work area by removing old pavement, grading, and ensuring proper drainage and base materials are in place.

Material Application

  • Operate paving machines and hand tools to apply asphalt, concrete, or other paving materials accurately and efficiently.

Finishing Work

  • Use finishing tools to smooth and level surfaces, ensuring proper thickness and compaction of materials.

Quality Control

  • Monitor the quality of work, making adjustments as necessary to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance on paving equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with foramen, site supervisors, and other tradespeople to coordinate paving schedules and ensure the timely completion of projects.

Safety Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in construction or paving preferred.
  • Previous experience as a paver worker or in a related construction field is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with paving materials, equipment, and techniques; ability to operate paving machinery and tools.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials; comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong focus on precision to ensure high-quality work and compliance with specifications.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
