Overview
The Laborer plays a fundamental role in construction, renovation, and maintenance projects by performing a variety of manual tasks to support skilled trades workers and ensure the efficient progress of work. They assist with various aspects of project execution, including site preparation, material handling, and cleanup, contributing to the completion of projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Duties
# Site Preparation:
- Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, setting up barricades, and securing work areas.
- Help with excavation, digging trenches, and leveling ground as needed.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to ensure site readiness for construction activities.
# Material Handling:
- Transport and unload materials, tools, and equipment to designated work areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and organizing materials on site.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage or loss.
# Construction Tasks and Assistance:
- Support skilled workers, such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, with various construction tasks.
- Operate hand and power tools under supervision to complete assigned tasks.
- Follow blueprints, schematics, and instructions to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects.
# Cleanup and Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of construction sites by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, and dispose of waste in designated areas.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment and tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.
# Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on site.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction or related field preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects.
- Familiarity with construction tools and equipment.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
