Overview
The Laborer plays a fundamental role in construction, renovation, and maintenance projects by performing a variety of manual tasks to support skilled trades workers and ensure the efficient progress of work. They assist with various aspects of project execution, including site preparation, material handling, and cleanup, contributing to the completion of projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Duties
Site Preparation:
- Assist with site setup and preparation by clearing debris, erecting temporary structures, and setting up equipment or machinery as directed.
- Perform basic tasks such as digging trenches, pouring concrete, or laying groundwork to prepare sites for construction or landscaping.
Material Handling:
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from the job site using hand trucks, forklifts, or other machinery.
- Assist trades workers with material inventory management by organizing, storing, and retrieving materials as needed.
Construction Tasks and Assistance:
- Provide assistance to skilled trades workers such as carpenters, masons, electricians, or plumbers by fetching tools, materials, or equipment.
- Perform basic construction tasks under supervision, such as measuring, cutting, or assembling materials according to specifications.
Cleanup and Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain construction sites, equipment, tools, and vehicles to ensure safety, organization, and efficiency.
- Dispose of waste materials, debris, or hazardous substances according to environmental regulations and company policies.
Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols, regulations, and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to property or equipment.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety training programs to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in construction trades may be advantageous.
