Overview
A Kitchen Cleaner helps keep the restaurant's kitchen clean by organizing the workspace and washing dishes, utensil, tools, etc. used by the chef, line cooks and customers. They may also keep the Kitchen station orderly to help maintain a quick cleaning process.
Duties
Washing
- Operate Utensil Washing equipments and tools to clean dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans effectively. Sort and stack dirty dishes appropriately before washing. Rinse and scrub items as necessary to remove food residue.
Sanitation:
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and cooking areas are kept clean and sanitized according to health and safety standards. Regularly check and maintain the cleanliness of baking machines and report any maintenance issues to the kitchen manager.
Organization:
- Properly store clean dishes, utensils, and cookware in designated areas, ensuring they are readily accessible for kitchen staff. Maintain an organized cooking area to facilitate a smooth workflow.
Support Kitchen Staff:
- Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling vegetables or preparing simple ingredients, when needed. Help set up and break down the kitchen and dining areas before and after service.
Waste Management:
- Dispose of trash and recyclables properly and maintain cleanliness in the cooking and kitchen areas. Ensure that composting procedures are followed if applicable.
Health and Safety Compliance:
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation. Attend training sessions and meetings to stay informed about food safety regulations and best practices.
Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with all kitchen staff, maintaining open communication and a positive attitude. Be flexible and willing to assist with other tasks as directed by the kitchen manager or head chef.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours) and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy items (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfort working in a hot and humid environment.
- A strong work ethic and reliability are essential. You must be punctual and ready to work during scheduled shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
