Overview

A Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, order, and hygiene in residential or commercial properties. They play a vital role in ensuring a clean and organized environment, providing a comfortable and sanitary space for occupants or guests.


Duties

Cleaning Tasks:

  • Perform general cleaning duties, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces in all areas of the property.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, and common areas, ensuring cleanliness and tidiness.

Linen and Laundry Care:

  • Change and make beds, replace linens, and ensure fresh towels are available for guests or residents.
  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry as needed, following care instructions and maintaining cleanliness standards.

Surface Maintenance:

  • Clean and polish furniture, fixtures, mirrors, windows, and glass surfaces to maintain a sparkling and streak-free appearance.
  • Wipe down and sanitize high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, light switches, handles, and remote controls, to prevent the spread of germs.

Organization and Restocking:

  • Organize and arrange items, belongings, and decor in an orderly manner, decluttering spaces and maximizing storage efficiency.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, toiletries, and amenities, ensuring adequate stock levels for ongoing maintenance.

Specialized Cleaning Tasks:

  • Perform deep cleaning tasks on a rotating basis, such as carpet shampooing, upholstery cleaning, and window washing, to maintain cleanliness and freshness.
  • Assist with seasonal cleaning projects, event setup or cleanup, and other special requests from clients or supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or janitorial roles is beneficial but not always required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment used in residential or commercial cleaning.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in performing cleaning tasks to achieve high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks, lift heavy objects, and stand for extended periods.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and complete cleaning assignments efficiently.
  • Dependability and reliability to work independently or as part of a team, following instructions and meeting deadlines.
