Overview
A Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in residential or commercial settings. They play a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for occupants or guests.
Duties
Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Clean and sanitize all areas of the property, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and common areas.
- Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing surfaces to remove dirt, dust, stains, and debris.
Linen and Laundry Care:
- Change bed linens, towels, and other linens as needed, and launder them according to instructions.
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron clothing, linens, and other textiles as required.
Organization and Tidiness:
- Arrange furniture, decorative items, and household objects in an orderly and visually appealing manner.
- Organize closets, cabinets, and storage spaces to maximize space and accessibility.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing batteries in smoke detectors, and fixing minor plumbing or electrical issues.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.
Guest Services (for hospitality settings):
- Provide assistance and support to guests, including delivering amenities, answering questions, and fulfilling special requests.
- Ensure guest rooms are properly stocked with toiletries, towels, and other supplies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or related roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and cleaning products.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in cleaning and organizing tasks.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform cleaning tasks, lift and move objects, and stand for extended periods.
- Dependability, reliability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in hospitality settings.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
