Overview
The Food Runner is responsible for efficiently delivering food and beverages from the kitchen to the dining area, ensuring that all orders are accurately presented and served in a timely manner. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Food Runners play a key role in enhancing the dining experience by maintaining the flow of service and supporting the front-of-house staff.
Duties
Order Delivery
- Deliver food and beverages to tables promptly and accurately, ensuring correct orders reach the right guests. Ensure all items are presented attractively and in accordance with restaurant standards.
Collaboration with Kitchen and Service Staff
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate timely food preparation and delivery. Assist servers in expediting orders during busy shifts, ensuring smooth service flow. Relay any special requests or modifications from guests to the kitchen promptly.
Table Maintenance
- Ensure tables are set properly before and after service, including clean linens, utensils, and glassware. Assist in clearing tables after guests leave, ensuring the dining area remains clean and inviting.
Guest Interaction
- Greet guests warmly as you deliver food and beverages, providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Be attentive to guests’ needs, responding to any requests or questions they may have. Inform guests about menu items, specials, or promotional offerings when appropriate.
Monitoring Service Efficiency
- Keep track of orders and their status to ensure timely delivery and assist in managing the dining flow. Alert servers or management of any delays or issues with orders to maintain customer satisfaction.
Adherence to Health and Safety Standards
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Ensure proper handling and presentation of food and beverages to meet health standards.
Assisting with Miscellaneous Tasks
- Help with setting up and breaking down dining areas for special events or large parties. Assist with restocking supplies, such as napkins, condiments, and silverware, as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in food service is beneficial but not required.
- Previous experience as a food runner, server, or in a customer service role is a plus.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with guests and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on accuracy in food delivery and order management.
- Capable of managing multiple orders and tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift items up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
