Overview
Concrete Pump Operators are responsible for operating and maintaining concrete pumping equipment to transfer concrete to various locations on construction sites. They ensure that concrete is delivered safely and efficiently to meet project specifications.
Duties
Equipment Operation
- Operate concrete pumps, including boom pumps and line pumps, to deliver concrete to specified locations.
Setup and Maintenance
- Set up pumping equipment, including hoses, pipes, and other components; perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on pumps to ensure optimal performance.
Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring site safety.
Mix Verification
- Verify concrete mix specifications and adjust equipment settings as needed to ensure proper flow and consistency.
Site Coordination
- Collaborate with site supervisors, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate concrete delivery schedules and manage the flow of concrete on-site.
Quality Control
- Monitor the delivery process to ensure that concrete is being pumped at the correct rate and in accordance with project specifications.
Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and job site conditions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or training in concrete pumping preferred.
- Previous experience as a concrete pump operator or in a related construction role is advantageous.
- Knowledge of concrete properties, pump operation, and safety standards; ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment; comfortable working in various weather conditions.
- Strong focus on safety and precision to ensure quality work and compliance with specifications.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
