A concrete finisher is a skilled tradesperson who works in the construction industry to smooth and finish concrete surfaces.
Duties
Concrete preparation
- Checking concrete forms, mixing concrete, and setting and aligning forms, preparation of a mixture of cement (10-15%) and water (15-20%) make a paste. mix with aggregates (65-75%) such as sand and gravel, or crushed stone. As the cement and water mix, harden and bind the aggregates into an impenetrable rock-like mass.
Concrete finishing
- Creating a smooth, durable surface we need a good concrete finish. concrete mixtures and timing is crucial as we need to pay close attention to the condition of the concrete. Improper finishing techniques can lead to a weak, damaged or unattractive slab.
Surface treatments
- Remove grease, oil, chemicals, and other contaminants from the concrete surface. High-pressure washing can remove chemicals and oils, while a degreaser and floor polisher can remove dirt and grime. thus surface treatment is crucial to create quality cement walls or repairing it.
Masonry work
- Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.
Collaboration
- Working with other skilled tradespeople, such as engineers, electricians, plumbers, truck drivers, and operator
Qualification:
- Physical strength and stamina
- Need to be able to place cement blocks and other materials with precision.
- Able to apply smooth, even layers of mortar.
