Overview

Duties

Structural Carpentry:

  • Construct and install wooden frameworks, structural components, and supports for buildings, including walls, floors, ceilings, and roof trusses.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and measurements for accurate construction.

Finish Carpentry:

  • Fabricate and install finish carpentry elements such as doors, windows, molding, trim, staircases, and cabinetry to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of interior spaces.
  • Ensure precise measurements, cuts, and fits to achieve high-quality finishes and meet design specifications.

Installation and Assembly:

  • Assemble pre-cut wooden components or manufactured parts to create various structures or furniture pieces according to project plans and specifications.
  • Install wooden fixtures, fittings, and furnishings on-site, ensuring proper alignment, stability, and adherence to safety standards.

Repair and Restoration:

  • Inspect existing wooden structures, furniture, or fixtures to identify damage, defects, or wear-and-tear requiring repair or replacement.
  • Perform repairs, replacements, or refinishing work to restore wooden surfaces, joints, or components to their original condition.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or vocational training.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively, including saws, drills, planers, and sanders.
  • Good physical condition and stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.
