Overview
A Carer, also known as a caregiver or support worker, provides assistance and support to individuals who require help with daily activities due to illness, disability, or aging. They play a vital role in improving the quality of life and maintaining independence for those they care for.
Duties
# Personal Care:
- Provide assistance with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and positioning as needed.
# Medication Management:
- Administer medications according to prescribed dosages and schedules.
- Mantain accurate records of medication administration and any observed side effects.
# Meal Preparation and Nutrition:
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Monitor food intake and encourage healthy eating habits.
# Emotional Support and Companionship:
- Offer emotional support and companionship to clients, engaging in conversation and meaningful activities.
- Provide reassurance and encouragement during challenging times.
# Household Assistance:
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organization.
- Perform errands and grocery shopping as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in caregiving or a related field preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid may be required.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
