Overview
The Busser plays a crucial role in ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient dining environment. Responsible for supporting servers and enhancing the dining experience for guests, the Busser's duties include clearing tables, resetting them for new guests, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the restaurant. This position requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
Duties
Table Maintenance
- Clear used dishes, utensils, and glassware from tables promptly after guests finish their meals.
- Wipe down tables and chairs, ensuring they are clean and presentable for the next guests.
- Reset tables with clean linens, silverware, and glassware in accordance with restaurant standards.
Support to Service Staff
- Assist servers with delivering food and beverages to tables as needed. Help refill water glasses and provide additional items requested by guests.
- Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to ensure a smooth flow of service.
Cleanliness and Organization
- Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, including floors and entryways, by sweeping, mopping, and removing debris.
- Regularly check and restock supplies, such as napkins, condiments, and silverware, to ensure they are available for guests and staff.
- Assist with cleaning and organizing the service area, including the dishwashing station and storage areas.
Guest Interaction
- Greet guests warmly as they enter and ensure they are seated comfortably. Be attentive to guests' needs, providing assistance or information when necessary.
- Maintain a friendly demeanor, contributing to a positive dining atmosphere.
Adherence to Health and Safety Standards
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a clean and safe working environment. comply with food safety practices and sanitation guidelines to ensure the well-being of guests and staff.
Team Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with fellow team members to meet the needs of guests and enhance overall service.
- Participate in training sessions and team meetings to improve service skills and knowledge.
Assisting with Special Events
- Help set up and break down for special events, including arranging tables and chairs. Support service staff during high-volume periods, such as banquets or large reservations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; experience in food service is a plus.
- Previous experience as a busser, server, or in a customer service role is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on cleanliness and presentation.
- Willingness to collaborate with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for long periods.
- The busser position typically requires working in a busy restaurant setting, often during peak dining hours.
