Duties
Construction Planning:
- Review architectural plans, blueprints, or specifications to understand the layout, dimensions, and materials required for construction projects.

Preparation and Layout:
- Prepare the worksite by clearing debris, setting up scaffolding or ladders, and ensuring a safe and organized environment for construction activities.
- Use tools such as tape measures, levels, and plumb bobs to mark layout lines, establish reference points, and ensure accurate alignment of bricks or blocks.
Masonry Construction:
- Lay bricks, concrete blocks, or stone units in mortar beds according to specified patterns, designs, and bond configurations.
- Cut or trim bricks to size using hand or power tools, and shape them as needed to fit corners, curves, or architectural details.
Quality Control:
- Monitor the quality of workmanship throughout the construction process, inspecting finished walls for alignment, plumbness, and adherence to design specifications.
- Identify and rectify any defects, irregularities, or structural weaknesses in masonry work to ensure the integrity and stability of the finished structure.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a bricklaying apprenticeship program or vocational training in masonry is advantageous.
- Familiarity with construction techniques, tools, and equipment used in bricklaying.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction plans.
