Overview

As a Baker, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies. Your expertise in baking techniques and passion for creating high-quality products will be essential in maintaining our bakery’s reputation. You will work collaboratively with our kitchen team to ensure that all products meet our high standards of quality, taste, and presentation.


Duties

Baking and Preparation

  • Prepare and bake a wide range of products, including breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods. Follow standardized recipes and techniques to ensure consistency in flavor, texture, and appearance. Measure and mix ingredients accurately, adhering to proper baking procedures and food safety standards.

Recipe Development

  • Collaborate with the head baker or pastry chef to create new recipes and innovate existing ones, keeping up with industry trends and customer preferences. Experiment with flavors, textures, and presentation to develop unique and appealing baked goods.

Quality Control

  • Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished products, ensuring that they meet our high standards. Conduct regular taste tests and make adjustments as necessary to maintain product excellence.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Operate and maintain baking equipment, such as ovens, mixers, and proofers, ensuring they are in good working condition. Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the baking area to comply with health and safety regulations.

Inventory Management

  • Assist in managing inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain adequate stock. Keep track of ingredient usage and minimize waste through efficient production practices.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with other bakers, kitchen staff, and management to create a positive and productive work environment. Assist in training and mentoring new team members, sharing your knowledge of baking techniques and best practices.

Customer Interaction

  • Occasionally interact with customers to gather feedback and answer questions about our baked goods. Contribute to a positive customer experience by ensuring that all products are beautifully presented and ready for display.

Compliance and Safety

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety protocols and workplace safety guidelines. Stay updated on best practices for food handling and sanitation to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary school training or bakery certification preferred.
  • Previous experience as a baker or in a related role in a bakery or commercial kitchen is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in baking techniques and a solid understanding of ingredients and their properties.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality baked goods.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy bags of flour and equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a hot and humid environment typical of a bakery.
  • A passion for baking and a desire to create unique and delicious products that resonate with customers.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependability are essential for maintaining our production schedule.
  • A friendly demeanor and the ability to work well in a team setting, contributing to a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
