Duties
Assessment and Consultation

- Consult with clients to understand their preferences for materials, colours, and design for custom upholstery projects.
- Provide cost estimates based on the type of materials and labour involved.
Repair and Restoration
- Repair damaged upholstery, including tears, rips, and worn-out areas, by replacing fabric, leather, or padding as necessary.
- Reupholster seats, headliners, carpets, and door panels using original or custom materials.
- Replace seat covers, padding, springs, and seatbelt covers to restore functionality and comfort.
- Restore vintage or classic car interiors to their original state using period-appropriate materials and techniques.
Custom Upholstery Work
- Design and create custom interiors for cars, including installing high-end materials like leather, suede, or vinyl for a personalized look.
- Create custom stitching patterns, embroider logos, or add unique elements to personalize vehicle interiors.
- Install custom foam or padding for added comfort or ergonomic improvements.
Material Handling and Installation
- Measure and cut fabric, leather, or vinyl materials to fit specific sections of the vehicle interior.
- Sew and assemble the materials, ensuring proper fitting and smooth finishes on seats, carpets, and headliners.
- Install finished upholstery securely in the vehicle using tacks, adhesives, staples, or other appropriate methods.

Interior Component Repair
- Repair or replace interior elements such as seat frames, springs, padding, and headrests to ensure structural integrity and comfort.
- Install and replace carpeting and floor mats, ensuring secure fitment and clean finishes.
- Adjust seat functions, including reclining mechanisms, lumbar support, and power features.
Attention to Detail and Quality Control
- Ensure all repairs and installations are completed to the highest standards, checking for proper fit, smoothness, and finish.
- Perform quality checks on completed projects to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to design specifications.

Safety and Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols when handling tools and installing upholstery components.
- Ensure that repairs and custom installations comply with safety regulations, particularly when working with seats, seatbelts, or airbags.
- Work in accordance with environmental and material handling standards, particularly when dealing with adhesives and specialized fabrics.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in upholstery, sewing, or working with automotive interiors.
- Formal training in upholstery or automotive interior work (vocational school or apprenticeship).
- Experience with specific automotive upholstery materials like leather or vinyl.
- Proficiency in sewing, cutting, and assembling upholstery materials, as well as using industrial sewing machines and other specialized tools.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive upholstery materials such as leather, vinyl, synthetic fabrics, and foam padding.
